IIJT ‘Perspectives’ 2011 to help make Chennai students job ready
Chennai, March 12, 2011: Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT) launched the first ever joint program with College HODs to help students make a smoother and faster transition from college to the anvils of corporate world, today. IIJT Education Chennai invited eminent HODs from different colleges in Chennai and bought them under one roof and one theme to talk about topics which are challenging and important from a student point of view. As a part of the series, HOD meets will be held in Malleswaram on 15th of this Month followed by Hyderabad next month.More than 100 students attended this event.
Dr. Nausheen Dawood, Principal - Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women (S.I.E.T) inaugurated and addressed the event saying, “The ever-changing dynamics of education and employability in a knowledge-driven economy are throwing up interesting trends. Employers are increasingly seeking employees that can contribute to the company’s top line / bottom line from day-one and skill sets have to be continuously updated to remain competitive.”She lauded the effort of IIJT Education in the pursuit of preparing the candidates suitable for industry and wished them the very best in all their endeavours.
According to Mr Shajan Samuel Divisional Head IIJT Education the theme behind constituting such events and HOD’s coming forward and talking on subjects like Challenges in higher education and the need for collaborating with Skill development companies like IIJT is pretty obvious .Colleges have now increasingly taken a softer approach towards Participating with vocational training companies because they realize that can’t do it alone any more ,While Colleges does what it can do best ,there are areas were cementing is required .The need for synergizing and forging partnership together is important in providing students with more rounded and wholesome education .
Followed by Dr. N Kalyanaraman, HOD - D.G Vaishnav College who said, “The formal education system has slowly started to recognize that collaboration with Skill enhancement companies like IIJT-Education is very important to ensure that students are Job ready.
Dr. S. Bhooma, Associate Professor, Dept. Of Commerce - S.I.E.T said, “The young generation has to be trained and retrained besides them constantly acquiring whatever skills, which are required in the industry and services sectors. Academicians, experts and consultants have always underlined the point that students should work harder if they are to compete globally.”
Prof Charles Jailsingh, HOD - Loyola College said, “A sense of career making has to be developed among students right from the beginning of the course, so that they would be well prepared for job interviews.”
